Study shows cholesterol level of children decreases in US due to decreased trans fat intake reports

(, September 07, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- Most of the time, different studies on cholesterol and obesity have suggested taking serious precautionary measures to control and minimize the danger of higher levels of cholesterol in the human body, which has been increasing rapidly in the United States according to the reports.

However, a recent government study done on a large scale has finally revealed some good facts about children and their cholesterol level in America.

According to this new study, the group of children who had higher levels of cholesterol in the past decade has fallen surprisingly. Experts of the study indicate that this significant transformation may not be because of the practice of eating less or exercising more, but may be because of the fewer trans fats they have been taking this time around.

In recent years, the U.S. government has taken serious steps to reduce the intake of trans fat each individual takes whenever they eat fried or processed foods. This has been done by removing and at some point, reducing the artery-clogging ingredients from the fried and processed foods such as fries, cookies and donuts.

The research in the decrease in cholesterol levels of a group of children was released last month by the Journal of Medical Association of America which also indicates that the cholesterol level among the children has slightly fallen overall as well on an average.

The Director of cardiology at the Childrenís Hospital of Boston, Dr. Sarah de Ferranti, said that itís her leading theory that the reduction or removal of trans fat from your diet can help in reducing higher levels of cholesterol. Dr. Brian kit from Disease Control and Prevention also supported the theory saying that it makes sense.
