'Diabetes Symptoms Now' Brings Hope And New Information To People With Diabetes Symptoms

(Medical-NewsWire.com, May 26, 2012 ) Denver, Colorado -- Bill Suter knows what it is like to have diabetes and is the creative force behind Diabetes Symptoms Now, the new website that is helping people with diabetes learn more about their condition and what it takes to overcome the disease. "One of the things we want to do on the website, in addition to the excellent information," Mr. Suter explains, "is to tell our own story and give you real life situations we were in because if you have diabetes you might find yourself in the same situation."

The website covers many important aspects of diabetes from both a medical and an experiential viewpoint. One of the stories Mr. Suter tells about his life when he first noticed diabetes symptoms is that he almost died because the doctor's office he was using did not want to schedule him an appointment on Friday for five minutes so he could get a prescription, even though a specialist had given him emergency clearance to get an immediate urgent prescription for diabetes. "I would have gone into a coma if I would have had to wait over the weekend," Mr. Suter says. "The receptionists at the doctor's office were so focused on having a light afternoon they did not even seem to care that I could die, they wanted to get off on time, so they said they could schedule something the next week." Mr. Suter explains how he got them to give him his prescription, and how it could happen to anyone with any type of diabetes if have a doctor that does not really care, or a staff that does not really care about the patients.

"A common question is the basic question what is high blood sugar and what is diabetes?" Mr Suter explains. "What we are talking about most of the time with this disease is what is high blood sugar and what is type one diabetes or type two diabetes. High blood sugar and diabetes occurs when the body cannot deal with sugar at all and the sugar builds up quickly after a meal or especially when eating sweets or carbohydrates. So a healthy body will have a steady blood sugar level because the body can regulate it, but people with diabetes like me have to take insulin shots which help the body deal with the sugar and medically keeps the level stable and at the right levels.

"Many people ask what is low blood sugar," Mr. Suter explains. "Low blood sugar is what happens when the body's blood sugar level drops, and this can also happen to a diabetic. first indications is hunger and sometimes extreme hunger. This is usually accompanied by fatigue, coldness, clamminess, and shortly followed by sweating. When this occurs many times I’m a little confused about what’s going on. It is always accompanied by a feeling that I know something is wrong but not sure what at beginning of my low blood sugar."

Mr. Suter says that ignoring the diabetes symptoms will cause major medical problems. "Diabetics have more than twice the risk of suffering from heart disease and stroke than the rest of the population," he says. "In addition, diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure and dialysis, amputations not attributed to trauma, and blindness in adults. Diabetes is even the seventh leading cause of fatality in the U. S. and even though it does not show up in statistics, is a contributing factor in two of the top three causes of death: heart disease and stroke."

Other topics discussed on the website include natural diabetes treatments, hyperglycemia symptoms, gestational diabetes symptoms, insulin resistance treatment, blood sugar charts and the various types of diabetes.
