The medical school at Stanford University has created a study to test the effects of using the erectile dysfunction drug, Viagra, as a way to treat lymphatic system problems.
Lymphatic system conditions have been very difficult to treat over the years. There have been many studies conducted, but few have come back with any type of results that show that the studied treatment has any real affect on the patientÂ’s condition. The fact that Viagra may offer a chance to treat these lymphatic system disorders is a rather large find. While the testing is still in the very early stages, the word is out so that people are well aware that there maybe a treatment coming somewhere in the near future.
The finding that Viagra might have some affect on the lymphatic system conditions was completely by accident. The Viagra drug was being used to treat hypertension in a patient when it was discovered that the vessel has shrunk considerably. There have been two other patients with similar results, and this is what has led many doctors to work toward getting funding so that they are able to do a larger test group.
Many people have raised concerns when they have read about Viagra, a drug that is generally used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult males, being used to treat small children. They wonder if it may have more negative health effects than it has beneficial ones. The truth is that Viagra has been used to treat hypertension in children for quite some time. While it is not the same treatment or dose there are some side effects associated with Viagra and children. The side effects are generally flu like symptoms such as a fever, headache and nausea. Every now and then a sporadic erection is a side effect, but it is not common.
The Viagra study for its effects as a permanent treatment on lymphatic system patients has quite a long way to go before it will be ready to be used in general practice. While it may be someone before the average doctor is prescribing Viagra as a treatment, it is a much anticipated step in the right direction.
