The accredited nursing program signifies to students the caliber of education they receive at Akron Institute of Herzing University and its state-of-the-industry nursing simulation lab to provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed upon graduation.

In the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program, nursing students are provided with a foundation of general education courses, as well as the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to work in a healthcare environment. Theoretical and practical instruction is complemented with clinical experience in a variety of healthcare settings in order to provide a broad, holistic and reality-based understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a professional nurse. Students in the accredited nursing program will participate in planned clinical and laboratory experience that will complement classroom learning and will stress health promotion as well as disease processes.
All students wishing to enter a nursing program at Akron Institute of Herzing University must participate in a Nursing Information Session to learn more about the courses, pre-requisites, program requirements and application steps, as well as costs and financial aid options available to them. For graduates of the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program who wish to continue their nursing education, Herzing University Online offers convenient options to attain a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing as well as a RN to BSN “bridge program” for registered nurses who want to advance their careers by earning their bachelor’s degree. Two Master of Science in Nursing programs also are available, with Nursing Education or Nursing Management concentrations to fit individual career goals in executive-level nursing or teaching positions.
