Most Massachusetts Overdoses Caused by Illegal Drugs, Drug and Alcohol Rehab New Hampshire Responds

(Medical-NewsWire.com, October 06, 2016 ) Concord, NH -- The Boston Globe reports that the rampant increase in overdoses in Massachusetts is caused by use of illegal drugs, not prescription painkillers. Research of the over 2,000 people who died between 2013 and 2014 of overdose found that 85 percent died due to heroin or Fentanyl while 8.3 percent died because of prescription opioid abuse. The current explosion of overdoses in the New England area was not included in this study.

Facilities providing heroin rehab in New Hampshire are intimately aware of the substance abuse epidemic affecting the area. As a leader in the industry, Drug and Alcohol Rehab New Hampshire recognizes the need for greater restrictions and control over the flow of illegal drugs throughout the community.

A representative of Drug and Alcohol Rehab New Hampshire comments,
"That illicit drugs are a leading contributor to the overdose epidemic is surprising to no one; the concentration of illicit drug suppliers is profit, not safety. With substances like Fentanyl being used to cut costs without regard for the people being exposed to unpredictable concoctions, it's becoming increasingly obvious that stymying the flow of illegal drugs through our community is key to ending the overdose epidemic."
