Final results showed 13% conversion rate increased for ads displaying partial human arm image as compared to the Tennis Elbow Band image alone. "We knew the new image would bring an increase in conversion however, we expected a much higher increase. Although 13% conversion rate increase is acceptable we need keep working on new images to reach our goal 30% to 50% increase conversions" – said James Carlson Graphic Developer and consultant.
Carlson added – "The partial human arm image ended up convincing more visitors that signing Baglic was indeed the right move to make. However the image does not placed the product in a contextual frame in which the customer can be identified. The next logical move for us seems to be create more persuasive images through adding well known scenes, people are related to such as adult man or woman playing tennis or golf". Studies confirm that images showing real people using real products in common situations, tends to be more believable compared to products images alone.
Amazon has a very restrictive policy about product images, only a product on a pure white background image can be used, no or few props are allowed, logos or any other element not included with the product must be excluded. "We wanted to try something more dynamic and attention-grabbing but following Amazon product image policy" – Carlson explained.
Baglic will be producing a new series of photos for this May 2016, to incorporate those elements that stimulate interest, desire and action finally action. Nicely shot product images essentially allow website viewers to have a good look at the product of their interest before buying.
