This is because asthmatic's airways are considered "hypersensitive" which means elements in the air can cause inflammation and constriction leading to coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath.
There are ways to prevent asthma attacks when the air pollution is high. It is recommended to exercise indoors or early in the morning because air pollution gets higher as the day progresses. Staying away from high-traffic areas is also advisable because vehicle emissions adds to the air pollution. Also everyone with asthma must be aware of what to do if they start to experience symptoms. And last but not the least is to use air pollution-reducing filters indoors like air purifiers. It is important to control air pollution entering the house to prevent asthma attacks.
