New Feedback Indicates Customers Are Keeping Tourniquet Trauma Kit In Their Cars

(Medical-NewsWire.com, February 01, 2016 ) Clearwater, Florida -- Today COO of First Aid Shoppe, Anna Loehwing, reported that new feedback indicates customers are storing the ResQue 1st Trauma Kit With SWAT-T Tourniquet in their cars. The trauma kit is a compact kit intended for handling severe bleeding injuries at the scene of an accident in order to stabilize a victim until help can arrive. First Aid Shoppe is a first aid and survival company that stocks and sells specialized first aid and survival gear and kits for professionals and the general public.

"This is a relatively small kit for what it does," says Ms. Loehwing. "You've got a few key components in here, a tourniquet slash compression bandage, and a clotting sponge, both of which are designed to stop serious bleeding fast. Due to its size the kit is easy to keep on hand, and what we're learning is that people are choosing to store these in their cars."

The ResQue 1st Trauma Kit With SWAT-T Tourniquet is 7.5 inches by 3 inches by 5 inches in dimension, and weighs 10 ounces. The kit bag is a nylon bag with durable zipper, and contains key items for treating most forms of sever bleeding. The QuikClot Advanced Clotting Sponge has an active agent that, when applied, promotes accelerated clotting at the site of the injury. The SWAT-T Tourniquet can be placed high in the groin or armpit area to clamp down on arterial blood flow and reduce or stop bleeding from that type of injury. The idea is that these tools will help stabilize the victim until help can arrive.

"It should come as no surprise people are choosing to keep these in their cars," says Ms. Loehwing. "That's a great place to have one on hand."

The ResQue 1st Trauma Kit With SWAT-T Tourniquet by First Aid Shoppe comes with safety gloves, antiseptic wipes, gauze and medical tape. It is available on Amazon.
