Turmeric Could Potentially Boost The BrainÂ’s Self-Healing Abilities

(Medical-NewsWire.com, October 13, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Brain health is believed to be as important as heart health. While its role in human life is incomparable, it is almost always susceptible to damages, injury, and diseases. The good news is that there is a natural remedy called turmeric that is thought to be helpful for the brain.

Turmeric could potentially boost the brain's self-healing abilities. Turmeric has, for thousands of years, been used in Indian traditional medicine and other cultures. It is believed to have the ability to fight a range of medical conditions and improve overall health.

"Turmeric powder is often added in dishes or beverages. However, there are also those who take it through supplementation," said Divine Bounty spokesperson, Melissa Scott.

In new research published by Stem Cell Research and Therapy, it is revealed that turmeric's compound called turmerone has the potential ability to help the brain repair itself. The compound was injected to the brain of the subject rats. It was injected in the brain area where neutral stem cells are found.

After the treatment, the researchers found some noticeable improvements in the treated areas of the brain as they appeared to be more active. They revealed that the capacity of the rat's brain for self-repair increased by 80 percent.

According to Dr. Adele Rueger, a researcher and the lead study author from the University Hospital of Cologne, and the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine, the finding of the study provided them with a chance of staying on the right track towards achieving their goals.

The Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center also states that the study demonstrates how medications for Parkinson's, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS, multiple sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases could be improved. If brain-related problems are not properly addressed, they could affect around 12 million individuals in the United States.

Turmeric doesn't just contain turmerone, but also other therapeutic ingredients such as curcumin. This phytochemical is believed to have a variety of therapeutic properties, including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties.

Turmeric is believed to be the most widely-studied spice nowadays. Its use is associated with a range of health benefits. This spice is widely available in a powder form, but it can also be consumed through supplementation.

Curcumin supplements are widely popular nowadays. This natural alternative is even used by arthritis sufferers who want to achieve relief from pain and inflammation. The most recommended curcumin supplements are those with a black pepper extract called BioPerine. This is a bioavailability-enhancing ingredient believed to be helpful for increasing curcumin absorption inside the body (amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
