Drug and Alcohol Rehab Charlotte Comments on Store Clerks Being Charged For Underage Alcohol Sales

(Medical-NewsWire.com, June 26, 2015 ) Charlotte, NC --
According to The-Dispatch, employees from six different businesses in Thomasville are being faced with charges for allegedly selling alcohol to underaged people. The arrest came about as a result of an investigation by the Thomasville Police Department.

Special operation officers conducted an undercover operation on Friday to conduct compliance checks of retail businesses holding an ABC permit, according to a press release.

Officers investigated various retail locations within the city to identify which stores sold alcohol to underaged people. The officers results showed that six of the locations which held ABC permits, sold alcohol to the underage decoys. These six locations were in violation for the sale of alcohol to an underage person. Five individuals had also been cited for the sale of alcohol to underaged persons.

The locations which had been in violation for selling alcohol to underage persons includes: an Eagle Mart, GDI Food Mart, Pantry Shop No. 5. In and Out Mart, Fairway One Stop, and SD Food Mart. The individuals whom had been charged have pending court dates in Lexington District Court on July 8.

According to The-Dispatch, Thomasville Police Department is planning to forward the violations to the North Carolina ABC Commission and the N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement in effort to charge the six locations with ABC compliance violations, as well as fine them.

An associate from Drug and Alcohol Rehab Charlotte comments "I am genuinely happy that the police are cracking down on business that sells alcohol to underaged kids. A lot of the retail stores with ABC permits are the reason that so many of these underaged persons are gaining access to alcohol. these underage people typically know which store they can go in that won't card them. Unfortunately, there's more than just one store that's selling alcohol to underage people. Most of these businesses are so focused on a dollar that they'll forget to check identification, they just want the sale. It's so heartbreaking that our children have such easy access to alcohol. I am hopeful that this will be a wake up call for businesses which sell and serve alcohol, always card your customers!"
