According to Dr. Radomsky, the treatment doesn't have to be painful at all. "The dentist applies local anesthesia, then isolates the area with a rubber dam," explains South Vancouver dentist Dr. Radomsky. "Then an opening is drilled into the tooth so the dentist can get to the infected pulp, which is then removed. After that, the area is cleaned with special tools and the root space is filled in with filling material."

"A crown needs to be placed on the surface of the tooth to seal it," says Dr. Radomsky. "The crown prevents any further infection, and it also restores the appearance and function of the tooth."
