Since the early 1950s parabens have been a major component of skin care products. Used to act as a preservative to prevent the growth of bacteria and increase product shelf life, the cosmetic industry has embraced these chemical compounds. Since these chemicals disrupt the normal endocrine function, this causes an array of other problems within the body.
