Having healthy hair, skin and mucous membranes are also results that are credited to maintaining high levels of the carotenoid.
Allegedly, Beta-Carotene has also shown potential for treating some of the more serious illnesses such as AIDS, Alzheimer's and even Parkinson's, though more research is being done.
"It [Beta-Carotene] also helps in the development of bones, teeth and gums," Kaplan added. "As you might have noticed, those are particularly critical parts of the body that need a lot of maintenance. With strong bones, children are able to play with minimal risk of injury. With healthy teeth, dental problems also become less likely. Taking all of these into account, it isn't that surprising why parents keep pushing kids to eat carrots and other vegetables which contain this nutrient."
With all of these details to take into consideration, it would certainly seem like adding a multivitamin supplement containing Beta-Carotene like what TerraPur is offering to children's daily lives has some merits. However, as Kaplan also stated, eating carrots and vegetables in general is an option. It's the one that most experts agree is ideal as well.
