Emergency Tourniquet Now Used By All Branches Of Military

(Medical-NewsWire.com, February 17, 2015 ) Clearwater, Florida -- The SWAT-Tourniquet, now included in the Auto Trauma Kit With SWAT-Tourniquet by First Aid & Safety, a Clearwater based company, is a multipurpose dressing designed to stop severe bleeding fast. It was developed specifically for the military and Special Weapons And Tactics communities, where there is a high incidence of penetrating trauma. Two-thirds of all preventable deaths in those operational environments are from extremity bleeding. The SWAT-Tourniquet is designed to be used in those situations to handle bleeding until proper care can be sought.

"Just like the military, having this kit on hand in the event of an emergency can save your life or another's," says First Aid & Safety COO, Anna Loehwing. "One can never be too safe and prepared when driving a car, climbing mountains, riding bikes – basically living. We tend to like to have fun in life and dangers can present themselves at any moment. Keeping one of these kits on hand for business or personal use can prevent death and rapidly help with any severe injury. Medical personnel may or may not be available – and even the first medical personnel to the scene can sometimes be too late."

The Auto Trauma Kit With SWAT-Tourniquet also included the QuikClot Advanced Clotting Sponge. QuikClot is battle tested and approved by the Department of Defense. It is made with an inert mineral called zeolite, which has had no adverse reactions reported from over 8 million units shipped.

"Besides the tourniquet our kit includes QuikClot," says Ms. Loehwing. "The QuikClot sponge stops bleeding fast! When injuries occur far from medical facilities, QuikClot helps control bleeding until help arrives or you can get to the appropriate medical facility."

The Auto Trauma Kit With SWAT-Tourniquet is now available on Amazon.
