Cancer doesn’t care about borders, race, nationality, age, socio-economic level or religion. Attempting to overcome it can be very costly and emotional, which is why one person, one donation, and volunteered time makes a huge impact in childhood cancer patients and their families lives.
Children with cancer have the same dreams of being princesses or princes and Camp rap-a-hope is a fun place for kids for them to feel free. This organization provides year-long programming and a week-long summer camp to children between the ages of 7 and 17 who have, or have ever had, cancer. The programs at Camp Rap-A-Hope are provided free of charge to their families and campers.
At Camp Rap-A-Hope they focus on five “spirit colors” that represent the aspects of a cancer-survivor’s journey:
• Spirit of Courage (red)
• Spirit of Acceptance (green)
• Spirit of Endurance (blue)
• Spirit of Laughter (yellow)
• Spirit of Faith, Hope, and Love (orange)
Offering this program to children from across the region to enjoy a summer camp is an awesome way to allow these children to remember their childhood. The camp offers several programs for all ages, such as summer camp, deep sea fishing, fall family fun, teen weekend and hospital outreach.
