The Arthritis Foundation Recommends Drug-Free Ways To Fight Arthritis

(Medical-NewsWire.com, February 10, 2015 ) Portland, Oregon -- NSAIDS, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, are one of the most popular treatment options for arthritis. While there is no known cure for arthritis, NSAIDs are typically used because they can provide significant relief from joint pain. However, as the world becomes more health conscious, more consumers are searching for ways to avoid the potential dangers of pharmaceutical drugs.

In early 2005, the FDA issued a warning against the use of NSAIDs stating that, based on a review of available data from long-term clinical trials, it was concluded that there was an increased risk of serious adverse cardiovascular events from the use of NSAIDs. They also required that all drugs of that class highlight the potential increased risk of cardiovascular events and the well described risk of serious, and potentially life-threatening, gastrointestinal bleeding.

"There are other pain relief options that are considered to be safe and effective to use for arthritis sufferers," says VitaBreeze spokesperson Michelle O'Sullivan.

According to the Arthritis Foundation, there are several methods available to conquer arthritis without using drugs. Some recommended alternative therapies include topical treatments, steroid injections, hyaluronic acid injections and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS). Less invasive strategies for reducing joint pain also include wearing the right shoes and practicing regular exercise.

The organization has very strong reasons to believe that these drug-free pain relief treatment options are high effective and safe. The Arthritis Foundation provides consumers with information on what the methods is, how it works, what arthritic condition it is suitable for, and any possible risks.

The use of heating pads as a warm compresses is also recommended by the Arthritis Foundation. It is believed that the heat increases the blood flow to the affected or painful area and relaxes the muscles. A warm compress is especially recommended for individuals suffering from osteoarthritis pain. However, the Foundation also urges caution, as the heat can potentially aggravate muscle sprains and other acute injury.

Many arthritis sufferers are already resorting to these drug-free pain relief options recommended by the Arthritis Foundation. There are also sufferers who are turning to health supplements such as curcumin. Some claim that the supplements helped them to reduce pain levels, as well as regain mobility (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI/).
