Test PH Level Now With Accurate Results

(Medical-NewsWire.com, February 05, 2015 ) San Diego, California -- Universal diagnostic pH Test Strips are filter papers saturated with one or a mixture of indicators. The paper is dried and packed suitably for use. They are then used to monitor pH level in the body. If used properly, the strips are the best way to measure pH levels. They are cheap, portable and have a long shelf life of up to 5 years.

It takes less than a minute to measure the body's pH. using artificial pH. test strips, which is way more convenient than paying a visit to a clinician whenever they think their pH. levels are not at their ordinary levels. A healthy individual has a pH level of 6.4 or above. If their pH is less than 6.4 it means their body is very acidic which can result in acne, low energy levels and weight gain. Saliva and urine samples are used for this test to get results within seconds.

How to test saliva

To get accurate results, do the test in the morning before taking anything even water. Water interferes with the results by increasing alkalinity. They can do the test in two ways. One way is by placing the strip under the tongue for 2 seconds. The other way is by placing saliva samples on a spoon and placing the strip into the sample for 2 seconds. Compare the colour reading to the chart on the strips package. Health practitioners or nutritionists recommend testing saliva twice a day.

How to test urine

Take the test twice or thrice a day to get the average pH level. Urine test is widely used than saliva test because urine contains many bio-chemicals which the body is eliminating. Place the urine on the stream of urine for two seconds. Alternatively use cup method. Ensure the cup is clean. Do not use plastic cups as plastics leach the solution. Only test fresh urine. Compare the color reading to the chart on the strips package.

How to interpret the reading

In order to interpret the readings accurately, one should understand what a pH scale is and how it works. The term pH means potential hydrogen. This is a measurement of the number of hydrogen ions in a solution. Substances with high acidity have more hydrogen ions while substances with high alkalinity have more hydroxide ions. If the amount of hydrogen and hydroxide ions are the same, the substance is neutral. The scale ranges from 0 to 14. A pH of 7 is neutral; less than 7 indicates acidity while above 7 alkalinity. Ph test strips have dual pads to increase accuracy. The pads should have the same reading. The reading on the strips indicates the level of acidity or alkalinity in the body. For urine and saliva tests, an optimum pH level ranges from 6.8 to 7.2.

Although using pH tests strips is the best method to monitor body pH levels, precautions should be observed to enhance accuracy of the results. For instance, they should not use fingers to place the samples in the strips because hands are contaminated with chemical such as soaps and natural oils. It is also important to read instructions on the package before use. Testing the level of pH in their urine or saliva will only give them a general assumption. Exact level of pH is obtained through blood tests.
