Anti-Arthritis Diet Recommended By Health Experts

(Medical-NewsWire.com, February 03, 2015 ) Portland, Oregon -- Arthritis is among the most prevalent medical conditions today. A majority of the sufferers are continually looking for the best ways to achieve pain relief and regain their mobility, while avoiding costly surgery. Due to the increasing number of individuals who are suffering from the condition, many natural remedies are gaining popularity not just with consumers, but also health professionals.

According to health experts, individuals who are prone to the condition should follow an anti-arthritis diet. These health professionals believe that the best remedy is one that relies on natural sources, such as eating healthy fruits and vegetables that have anti-inflammatory properties.

"There are quite a number of food options available that are recommended for anti-inflammatory diet. Among these food items are fatty fish, berries, dark leafy greens, and nuts," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

An increasing number of studies have shown that dietary changes can indeed help with the prevention of arthritis. These food options include omega-3s and polyunsaturated oils. One study publish in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition even suggests that vegetarian diets are very beneficial in reducing a person's risk for arthritis.

In the study, it was found that very low-fat vegan diet had significantly helped individuals who suffered from moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. One year after the patients completed the trial, the improvements measured were significantly greater in the vegetarians than in omnivores. Other studies have showed that individuals with rheumatoid arthritis who followed raw vegan diets experienced a reduction in pain and joint stiffness.

"We know that healthy diets nourish the body with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Aside from increasing our intake of healthy foods, health experts also recommend that we avoid certain food items," said added O'Sullivan.

In a study conducted at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, it was found that reducing intake of fried and processed foods can help reduce inflammation and regain the natural defenses of the body. Other food items that should be avoided include grilled meat, sugar and refined carbohydrates, and dairy products.

In addition to dietary change, using natural supplements such as glucosamine is also believed to be effective in helping individuals manage pain and improve their mobility. Glucosamine is widely used among arthritis patients as a natural alternative to pharmaceutical drugs (http://www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Chondroitin-Supplement-Turmeric/dp/B00DUMO9X4).
