More Arthritis Patients Use Turmeric Supplements Containing BioPerine

(Medical-NewsWire.com, January 19, 2015 ) Portland, Oregon -- Turmeric is an ancient spice that is widely popularized by its powerful therapeutic benefits. It is used by people who are suffering from different conditions ranging from arthritis to digestive problems. With many forms of turmeric available, consumers often struggle to choose the product that will provide the best therapeutic benefits for their conditions.

According to research, more arthritis patients are choosing curcumin supplements that contain BioPerine. BioPerine is a black pepper extract that is known for its efficiency in increasing the capacity of the human body to absorb nutrients. Some studies have even shown an increase in absorption of as much as 2000 percent.

"Curcumin is the active ingredient found in turmeric. It is believed to be the substance that provides much of turmeric's therapeutic benefits, but is notorious for being poorly absorbed by the body," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

Clinical trials and studies in the past years have focused on investigating the low bioavailability of turmeric. Bioavailability is a measure of how easily a nutrient can be absorbed for use by the body. Since turmeric has low bioavailability, many experts suggest that those who want to take advantage of its therapeutic effects should increase their dose.

While increasing dose can allow the body to absorb more nutrients, it can become very expensive for consumers. This is why researchers have investigated other ingredients that can naturally increase the rate of absorption. Although there are other methods to increase nutrient absorption, the most recommended way is to combine turmeric with a black pepper extract.

"Many health professionals believe curcumin supplements that have BioPerine are more effective than those that do not contain the black pepper extract. This belief was also supported by a number of arthritis patients who have experienced the best benefits in using both of the natural ingredients," added O'Sullivan.

More studies are still being conducted to test the efficacy of curcumin supplements and the combination with BioPerine. Nevertheless, the number of consumers using the natural alternative for arthritic conditions continues to increase (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI).
