More Studies Find Turmeric To Be Highly Beneficial For Brain Health

(Medical-NewsWire.com, December 26, 2014 ) Portland, Oregon -- There are quite a number of medical conditions that affect the brain health. Many of these conditions are fatal, while others can deteriorate the quality of one's life. With concern growing, many are turning to natural health products to potentially help improve brain health.

Several scientific studies have now found that an ancient spice known as turmeric could be highly beneficial for brain health. It is believed that the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of curcumin, the active ingredient found in turmeric, can potentially help maintain the health of human brain cells.

"India is a country that has been known to be one of the major consumers of turmeric. Inhabitants in India have been using the spice for cooking and medicinal purposes for thousands of years," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan. "Research has shown that the country has the lowest number of people suffering with Alzheimer's disease and experts believe this is due to the fact that India is the largest consumer of turmeric worldwide."

Many studies and pre-clinical trials suggest that curcumin may significantly reduce a person's risk for Alzheimer's Disease. One such study by the Beijing University of Chemical Technology demonstrated the ability of curcumin to prevent the formation of a small protein molecule known as amyloid-beta, which is normally found in the brain of Alzheimer's disease patients. According to research, free radicals cause the formation of the molecule.

Moreover, turmeric is also believed to be effective in bridging a connection between brain cells. According to experts, this connection can result in the protection of brain cells and prevention of serious brain illnesses such as major depression, OCD, dementia and schizophrenia.

Due to the increasing number of studies that are validating the effects of turmeric in brain health, many people are using the spice in their attempt to improve the health and function of their brain. Some people use turmeric in their dishes or as a tea, while others choose curcumin supplements.

Natural health experts suggest consumers opt for products containing a black pepper extract called BioPerine. With curcumin known for having poor absorption levels, BioPerine has been shown to be very effective in increasing nutrient absorption in the body (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI/).
