(Medical-NewsWire.com, August 01, 2014 ) Hollywood, Florida -- According to a recent study published in the highly respected Lancet medical journal on June 26, 2014, scientific researchers have uncovered the best evidence yet that shows a dramatic link between vitamin D deficiency and high blood pressure. Researchers have for many years suspected that blood pressure responds negatively to vitamin D deficiency, but until recently they lacked an efficient, foolproof way of providing solid evidence.
For this latest study, researchers relied on the patient records of more than 140,000 people from North America and Europe. Using the medical information which was available to them, they found that the risk of developing high blood pressure decreases by around eight percent for each ten percent increase in vitamin D in the blood.
Mr. Oliver Adams, a Nutra Mina spokesman had this to say: "The scientific community has been warning us about the importance of vitamin D for decades, but the overwhelming majority of people simply don't take much notice. A lot of people tend to take vitamin D for granted because our bodies are able to produce it without dietary supplements and without us having to change our diets. The big problem of course is the fact that our bodies need adequate exposure to direct sunlight, and that's just not happening", said Mr. Adams.
While it is possible to acquire sufficient vitamin D through exposure to direct sunlight, doctors are hesitant to make recommendations regarding the amount of exposure needed. With the number of skin cancer cases on the rise, most medical practitioners advise people to limit the amount of time they spend it the sun. People are also advised to use sunscreen lotions, and even the poorest quality sunscreen lotion can reduce vitamin D production by up to 95%.
"What we are seeing here is growing problem, and it's likely to get worse before it gets better. People are being told to avoid the sun, and unfortunately, acquiring sufficient vitamin D from one's diet is virtually impossible, so that leaves us with only one option, and that is for us to take a good quality vitamin D3 supplement", said Mr. Adams over the phone.
Nutra Mina, along with several other supplement suppliers have been rushing to meet the demand for quality vitamin D3 supplements, and some retailers have stocks selling out it record time. With winter approaching, this demand is expected to increase, so does this mean consumers can expect to see an increase in prices? "No, definitely not", said Nutra Mina's spokesman, Oliver Adams. "To the contrary, our vitamin D3 5000 IU supplements are more affordable than ever, and we have every intention of making sure the average person can afford them", said Mr. Adams.
Hypertension, also known as High Blood Pressure, is a growing problem. The condition typically requires ongoing treatment, so if vitamin D supplementation can reduce the risk of developing the condition, then it is certainly something consumers should be thinking about. Researchers have however warned that people should continue following the advice of their doctors because a lot more research needs to be done regarding the link between vitamin D deficiency and hypertension.
