Anit-Aging Products Defy Gravity? Collagen Creams Put To The Test

(Medical-NewsWire.com, January 28, 2014 ) Dallas, TX -- "Collagen in anti-aging creams will turn back the hands of time," some have claimed for decades. Now, collagen is said to be the new fountain of youth. Ads promising that anti-aging creams, lotions, and serums will reverse aging are plastered across magazines and pasted on infomercials all across America. But does Vitamin C really help when it comes to anti-aging?

"It is imperative to note what the science behind aging entails," biologist Lea Patterson stated. "Aging is a deterioration process and in short, as our skin is dying it is wrinkling, drying, and sagging."

Patterson went on to elaborate that as skin ages, it changes. "The steady decline begins in one's late twenties and early thirties," the scientist explained. "During this time, one loses elasticity in the skin."
It is a fact that air pollutants, damage from the sun, smoking and unhealthy eating habits cause people to age. "Our bodies do not bounce back as quickly as one gets older," Patterson concluded. "Therefore the signs of aging come into play."

It is also a fact that some shady advertisers take advantage of those who feel their age and are desperate you look younger. Promises of looking younger overnight are among ways they prey on people wishing to turn back the hands of time.

There are things that can be done to combat aging. It has been proven ways that a healthy diet, daily exercise and drinking plenty of water are ways to fight aging process inexpensively.

Products can be purchased, however, that enhance the personal anti-aging plan. Scientists have proven that along with laser, surgery, and chemical peels, there are less invasive options as well.

COLLAGEN
Loss of elasticity makes skin sag and that is one of the biggest complaints women have in regards to aging. Skin becomes thinner and, therefore, begins to sag and wrinkle. Gravity sets in. This process is due to a decrease in collagen which is a protein. Collagen is in our skin. It acts like elastic, lifting the skin up and holding it together.

The University of Michigan has published a recent study proving that collagen does, in fact, replenish the skin and rebuilds it as well. Scientific proof sets the record straight that collagen does help skin look younger. Collagen is available in supplement forms but also in injections, creams, lotions, and serums. Collagen can be added into the diet as well.

ANTI-OXIDANTS
Aging is also caused when cells become damaged. When they do, they drop electrons. The cells require two electrons in order to function so they set out on a mission to hook up with another electron.
The problem takes place when free-radicals come into the body. Free-radicals come from such things as chemical exposure, bad food and other toxins. The cells that are damaged then can pick up an electron from the free-radicals which begins a destructive cycle.

Anti-oxidants fight off free-radicals. Vitamins C and E are examples of anti-oxidants. These vitamins can be found in food sources as well as in supplements, creams, lotions and anti-aging solutions . They have been proven to be very effective for the combating the damaging effects that come about as aging.

"The proof is in the pudding," Patterson stated. "Although no product is magic, there are anti-aging solutions with ingredients that have been proven to help aging be more graceful."
