(Medical-NewsWire.com, October 11, 2013 ) Nevada, Las Vegas -- October is National Sea Food month in America as government and industry promote the benefits of eating seafood. One of the many reasons this initiative is in place is because Americans don't eat enough seafood to get the full benefits of a healthy and balanced diet and in particular, have lowered levels of omega 3 essential fatty acids.
A University of Harvard research paper has concluded that the average adult intake of two of the most important of these fatty acids; Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) combined is between 120mg and 150mg daily. The World Health Organization recommends 300mg to 500mg daily and the American Heart Association recommends two servings of omega 3 rich fish weekly, which approximates to 600mg a day.
Omega 3's are found primarily in cold water oily fish. Researchers continue to investigate possible links between low omega 3 levels and numerous disease conditions. There have been over 2000 clinical studies trying to identify health benefits of omega 3 in prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, depression, alzheimer's, arthritis, asthma and many more. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that taking omega 3 may reduce the chance of cardiovascular disease.
"American's generally don't eat enough fish to get an adequate supply of omega 3 EFA's" said Tess McKay from Ballena Nelle. "For those that either can't or don't want to increase the amount of fish in their diets, omega 3 supplements are a great option."
In support of National Sea Food month, Ballena Nelle has introduced a 25% off sale on its premium grade omega 3 fish oil. "While we believe the best way to get the health benefits of omega 3 is to eat enough of the right kind of fish, a quality supplement is also a great option for many people" said McKay.
Ballena Nelle Pharmaceutical Grade Omega-3 Fish Oil contains over two times the concentration of eicosapentaenoic acids (EPA) and DHA per capsule, than many standard fish oil supplements sold in America.
Ballena Nelle uses sardines and anchovies from the Humbolt current of the southern Pacific, because they have the highest DHA and EPA levels and the lowest exposure to contaminants. The refining and purification process is extensive, taking 10 pounds of raw fish oil to make one pound of Ballena Nelle fish oil. It is then shipped to the U.S. where it is manufactured into the highest quality softgel capsules.
