Social anxiety is a significant problem in the United States, affecting between 9-15 million people. A significant percentage of people don't seek help with social anxiety for 10 years. This program was created to help reach men who are struggling with shyness and unaware that they can improve their circumstances. It helps men understand the causes of their shyness, and gives them practical ways to overcome their fears.
In Confidence Unleashed, Dr. Aziz explains how shyness and social anxiety start from the negative beliefs men have about themselves. According to Dr. Aziz, "the true cause of shyness is nothing more than a deeply held belief that you are not good enough and somehow not lovable. In this program, I intend to help you change that forever."
The program consists of 8 interactive videos, each containing a number of activities to engage the viewer. Dr. Aziz repeatedly stresses the importance of getting out of being passive and into being active, during the program and in life. Later in the program, he has participants do social experiments, which involve trying out new behaviors that they are scared to do. This includes initiating interactions, talking with strangers, and doing things that might lead to rejection or embarrassment.
According to Dr. Aziz, "embarrassment is not the enemy. It is our fear of embarrassment that holds us back. We must learn how to push the edge of our comfort zone, facing failure, rejection and setback, in order to get what we truly want in life."
According to Dr. Aziz, this program is intended to simulate working with him 1-on-1 as a confidence coach. His confidence coaching services are often overbooked and he states he needed to find a way to get help out to all the men who need it.
This program differs from many of the dating advice programs from dating gurus on the internet. Most of those programs are geared towards teaching men secrets to quickly seduce women using memorized lines and scripts. Dr. Aziz rejects these approaches to building relationships, stating "they don't teach us how to be fully ourselves." In contrast to many dating gurus, Dr. Aziz has years of experience as a clinical psychologist, teaching principles that have been drawn from scientifically validated approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
