MARION C. BLAKEY OF THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION TO KEYNOTE AT ACTE GLOBAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 29, 2008 ) Alexandria, Va. – The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) announced today that Marion C. Blakey, president and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), will be a keynote speaker at the association's Global Education Conference in Washington, D.C., May 18-20, 2008.

Blakey will discuss the pressing issues currently surrounding air transportation: the economy's dependence upon it, the challenged global infrastructure and air control systems, and concerns over safety and security.

"Marion Blakey has been a true pioneer in the air travel industry, instituting groundbreaking policies that have become benchmarks for aviation transport," Susan Gurley, ACTE Global Executive Director, said. "We are honored to have her speak at the ACTE Washington, D.C. conference, and look forward to hearing her dynamic perspective about the state of the air travel industry."

In 2007, Blakey became the AIA's eighth full-time chief executive. AIA represents the nation's leading manufacturers and suppliers of civil, military, and business aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, space systems, aircraft engines, missiles, materiel and related components, equipment services, and information technology.

Prior to her current position, Blakey served a five-year term as administrator of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where she was responsible for regulating the nation's airways as well as operating the world's largest air traffic control system. She oversaw the safest period for air travel in the history of the United States and continues to be a tireless safety advocate internationally. Under her leadership, the Next Generation Air Transportation System was launched and significant progress made toward its implementation.

Prior to being named FAA Administrator, Blakey served as chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). While there, she worked to improve the Board's accident reporting process and increased industry and regulatory responsiveness to NTSB safety recommendations. Additionally, Blakey strengthened the Board's advocacy and outreach programs to promote safer travel throughout all modes of transportation. She also furthered development of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Academy as a national and international resource to enhance aviation safety and accident investigations.
