Hope is Here conference to be held August 9th through 11th, 2012, in Kingwood, Texas. Featuring international speaker, Sandra Sellmer Kersten, the conference will teach attendees how to break free of and heal from emotional and psychological trauma. Sponsored by The Whole House Ministry, the material is designed for both the individual as well as the caregiver.
In a turbulent economy and a society experiencing chaotic change, many have experienced situations that have resulted in emotional, psychological or spiritual trauma. Unresolved, these traumas often later manifest in a physical illness. The 2002 study by Cusani found that as many as 40 to 50 percent of illnesses resulting in doctors’ visits were psychosomatic as well as 30 to 40 percent of emergency room cases.
The Fractured No More . . . Hope is Here conference will feature international trainer and speaker, Sandra Sellmer Kersten. The New Zealand resident has served as a teacher, speaker, and prayer minister for Elijah House Ministries for more than nine years. Her current focus is spreading the word of hope and educating individuals on how to escape the chains of trauma.
While she has shared her teachings in countries across the globe, the Houston conference will be the first time the curriculum has been presented in the U.S. “We are very fortunate to be able to bring Sandra to the Houston area,” said Molly McNamara, founder of The Whole House, “There are so many people who have experienced devastating loss which has had an impact on their health and hope. This conference will equip those serving in the medical community as well as Christian ministry with tools needed to achieve true healing.”
Cutting through the countless pages of theory that expound on the subject of emotional healing, Kersten provides practical steps for recovering from trauma. Attendees will be equipped to identify the many faces of traumatic experiences such as: financial, fear based, betrayal, loss, emotional, neglect, secondary trauma, generational, trauma absorbed in matter, war and genocide. The conference sessions will cover many of these types of trauma, how it affects the sufferer, steps for healing, and practical demonstrations.
The Fractured No More . . . Hope is Here conference will be held on August 9th through 11th, 2012, at Calvary Christian Fellowship located at 1365 Northpark Dr. in Kingwood, Texas. The conference will be broken into four sessions: Thursday, 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm; Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; Friday night, 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm; and Saturday, 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Registration fees are $70 for the full conference including lunch on Friday or $63 for the conference alone. For those unable to attend the full day on Friday, a partial conference registration option is available for $50 including Thursday and Friday evening and Saturday morning.
