Morgan and Morgan Investigates Injuries Related to the Ingestion of Grill Brush Bristles

(Medical-NewsWire.com, July 18, 2012 ) Tampa, Florida – The attorneys at Morgan and Morgan are investigating injury claims related to the ingestion of wire grill brush bristles. One Rhode Island hospital has reported that six people sought emergency care between 2011 and 2012 to receive treatment for wire grill brush bristles which were lodged in their throats, intestines, stomachs or other organs. It is believed that these wire bristles were stuck in meat which was prepared on a grill and then ingested. In light of these reports, the firm is looking to hear from anyone who accidentally ingested a wire grill brush bristle after eating food prepared on an outdoor grill. For more information, please contact the firm by completing the free case review form offered at the following link: http://www.forthepeople.com/contact_us.htm.

It is believed that when consumers use a metal grill brush to clean their grills, the bristles may break off and accidentally get stuck in food which is cooked on the grill. One New Jersey man and another from Washington State were reportedly hospitalized and required surgery to remove the metal bristles from their stomachs. It has been reported that the New Jersey man needed surgery to extract a one-and-a-half inch metal wire and to fix a puncture in his large intestine. According to reports, the Washington resident needed a half-foot of his small intestine removed after a metal bristle reportedly penetrated the organ. These reports prompted Senator Charles Schumer to request a federal review of the grill brush safety by the FDA and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The CPSC reportedly found nine cases of swallowed brush bristles since 2007 and 28 other injuries linked to grill brushes, eight of which were lodged by individuals who claimed that a bristle got stuck in their food or on their grill. 23 May 2013 at 5:52pm

By Keith Coffman CENTENNIAL, Colo. (Reuters) - Lawyers for accused Colorado movie theater gunman James Holmes argued on Thursday the state's insanity defense law was unconstitutional because it forces him to cooperate with court-appointed psychiatrists or forfeit the right to raise mental-health issues at sentencing. Prosecutors countered during a hearing before Arapahoe County District Judge Carlos Samour Jr. that without an independent examination, there would be no way to evaluate defense claims that Holmes was legally insane at the time of the crime. ...
