Approximately 650 Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits alleging that Bayer’s popular line of birth control pills caused sometimes fatal blood clots have been resolved with these settlements. Yaz, Yasmin and other birth control pills containing drospirenone have reportedly been linked to a higher risk of blood clots when compared to older pills, and in April 2012, the FDA announced that drospirenone-containing oral contraceptives would receive label updates to include more information on this potential risk.
