2007 GHI Bronx Tennis Classic Returns To Crotona Park August 11-19 Two Weeks Prior To US Open

(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 24, 2007 ) New York, NY -- The GHI (Group Health Incorporated) Bronx Tennis Classic, Presented by Panasonic, a United States Tennis Association (USTA) Pro Circuit event for men and women with a $100,000 purse, will return to Crotona Park, Bronx, New York, August 11-19. The professional tournament is now in its 15th year. Scheduled two weeks prior to the start of the US Open in Flushing Meadows, the annual tournament is a warm up for many up and coming players hoping to make their mark on the Grand Slam stage at the USTA National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens. Gary Davis, president of the non-profit New York Junior Tennis League (NYJTL), the founding sponsor and beneficiary of the tournament, made the announcement. All proceeds of the GHI Bronx Tennis Classic, presented by Panasonic will benefit the NYJTL. One of New York City's most prominent sports and education non-profit organizations, the New York Junior Tennis League operates Community Tennis Centers throughout the five boroughs, all year round. At NYJTL Community Tennis Centers, children come to take part in FREE tennis instruction, practice and competitive play. The NYJTL also provides FREE educational guidance services for thousands of inner city children.
