(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 05, 2011 ) Houston, TX - Most physicians are aware of the incentive program's existence, however many are unclear as to when they should expect payment. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission has issued this release today regarding incentive payments:
"The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is helping doctors and health-care providers sign up for new incentive payments for using electronic health records in a meaningful way. Providers can begin participating in the program now, and the first payments are expected in May 2011.
Providers must first register with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) at the federal level to start their registration process. Once registered at the federal level, the provider will receive an e-mail to begin participation at the state level. Four regional extension centers in Texas can help doctors and health providers with the process to qualify for the incentive payments. For more information on these centers, visit www.txrecs.org. CMS has detailed information for the Medicaid program at www.cms.gov/EHRIncentivePrograms.
