The study conducted at Kyoto University in Japan investigated the difference between feeding a group of mice fatty food with and without fish oil. Those mice given the fish oil gained 5-10 percent less weight and 15-25 percent less fat. They also displayed changes in the composition of their fat cells.
Researchers say fish oil can alter fat storage cells into the brown or beige cells which, unlike white cells, are known for their fat-burning properties.
