Scientific Studies Reveal Turmeric Is As Effective As 14 Pharmaceutical Drugs

(Medical-NewsWire.com, August 24, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Turmeric has long been used as a great solution to a wide variety of medical conditions. It has become even more popular nowadays as an increasing number of people are suffering from various ailments. It is widely studied by many scientists, and its use has been associated with multiple health benefits.

Scientific studies reveal turmeric is as effective as 14 pharmaceutical drugs. Its most popular and therapeutic medicinal property called curcumin has been a focus of more than 5600 peer-reviewed and published biomedical studies.

In a five-year long research project, it was found that the ancient spice potentially has over 600 preventive and therapeutic benefits and 175 distinct beneficial psychological effects.

"Turmeric can be used in the form of a powder, and be incorporated in one's diet. Consumers can also take advantage of its therapeutic benefits by using curcumin supplements," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

According to the study published in the Drugs in R & D journal, the use of turmeric was as effective as a certain cholesterol medication. The use of the spice was associated with a reduction in inflammation and oxidative stress among individuals with type 2 diabetes.

The Phytotherapy Research journal also published a study that compared favorably the effects of curcumin in turmeric with steroid medications in the management of an inflammatory eye disease. In an animal-based study published in Critical Care Medicine, it found that turmeric compared favorably to a corticosteroid drug for providing protection from lung transplantation-associated injury. There are many studies that found curcumin to be as effective as pharmaceutical drugs, such as antidepressants, blood thinners, anti-inflammatory drugs, chemotherapy drugs and diabetes drugs.

Curcumin is believed to contain powerful therapeutic properties such as anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It was found to help reduce depressive behavior in an animal-based study and is potentially beneficial to individuals requiring anti-arthritis therapy. Its performance was also compared favorably to a variety of anti-inflammatory drugs.

Today, many people are taking advantage of the therapeutic benefits offered by curcumin. There are those who incorporate turmeric powder in their diet by adding it to dishes or beverages. Curcumin supplements are also available on the market.

The good news is that the best curcumin supplements available nowadays contain a black pepper extract known as BioPerine. This black pepper extract is believed to increase the bioavailability of curcumin, which means the nutrient can be easily absorbed by the body. Experts recommend the use of curcumin with BioPerine, as it is believed to be more therapeutic (amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI/).
