Turmeric A Potential Solution For The Brain-Damaging Effects Of Fluoride

(Medical-NewsWire.com, August 14, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- For many years, fluoride has been used for an extensive range of purposes, and it is not a surprise that people are always exposed to it. While fluoride is a very useful ingredient for toothpastes, drinking water, and other basic human needs, its use is nonetheless associated with side effects. The good news is that there is a natural remedy believed to be helpful for fighting these undesirable health effects.

Turmeric is believed to be a potential solution for the brain-damaging effects of fluoride. This ancient, medicinal spice has long been believed to offer a myriad of health benefits. It is even used nowadays as a natural remedy for various medical conditions.

"The therapeutic benefits of the spice are believed to come from its phytochemical called curcumin. Curcumin is made popular by its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties," said Divine Bounty spokesperson, Melissa Scott.

Fluoride has neurotoxicity, which has been a subject of many debates and clinical trials for the past years. Constant, excessive, or prolonged exposure to fluoride is believed to result in brain damage. This substance was even added in the drinking water of the Russian and Nazi concentration camps to lobotomize the prisoners.

Fluoride is heavily used in many countries around the world, especially in municipal drinking water. Since it has IQ lowering properties, governments are making efforts to reduce the use of the substance.

According to the study entitled "Curcumin attenuates neurotoxicity induced by fluoride: An in vivo evidence" published in the Pharmacognosy Magazine, fluoride has properties that are detrimental to brain health. The same study reveals that curcumin has the potential ability to reduce the impact of, or fight the health hazards associated with the use of, fluoride.

The study was authored by the researchers from the Department of Zoology, University College of Science, M.L. Sukhadia University. According to these experts, fluoride could cause neurodegenerative changes in the brain. As a matter of fact, the presence of fluoride in drinking water is considered to be one of the most common problems worldwide. Fluoride use is associated with the development of neurological diseases, adverse reproductive activities, cancers, and cardiovascular diseases.

Curcumin contains an agent called polyphenol that is considered to be a neuroprotective substance. According to previous research studies, curcumin can act as an effective antioxidant agent. The antioxidants contained in curcumin are believed to fight superoxide radical damage, singlet oxygen, and hydroxyl radicals.

According to experts, curcumin also has the ability to increase endogenous gluthathione levels in the brain, and thus, can act as an excellent antioxidant defense system. Today, people can take advantage of curcumin supplements that are widely available in the market (amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Extract-Vegetarian/dp/B00VSVKJ8I/).
