CurcuminÂ’s Protective Abilities For The Brain Against Flouride Finally Revealed

(Medical-NewsWire.com, July 08, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Turmeric is an ancient, therapeutic spice that is widely used in the kitchen and as a medicine. Its healing effects are believed to be coming from its phytochemical called curcumin. As researchers continue to investigate the natural ingredient, more and more therapeutic benefits are being discovered.

Researchers reveal that curcumin has protective abilities for the brain against fluoride. Fluoride can be found almost everywhere, from toothpaste to drinking water. Fluoride exposure is particularly normal in today's world, and this is bad news since the substance is believed to be detrimental to brain health.

"Curcumin is widely available as natural supplements, and it can even be purchased in just a matter of clicks," said Divine Bounty spokesperson, Melissa Scott.

According to research, curcumin has the ability to hinder fluoride from causing damage to the brain. The neurotoxicity of fluoride has been a subject of many debates and studies for decades. It is even believed to have been added to the drinking water of prisoners of the Russian and Nazi concentration camps. The substance was used to lobotomize captives.

Fluoride has properties that are believed to lower IQ. It is almost always added to municipal drinking water, but many countries are making an effort to reduce or eliminate its use.

A new study titled "Curcumin attenuates neurotoxicity induced by fluoride: An in vivo evidence" was published in the Pharmacognosy Magazine. It was found that fluoride has a great potential to damage the brain. Researchers also revealed that curcumin could help fight a myriad of side effects caused by fluoride.

The Department of Zoology, University College of Science's researchers authored the study, and they have dedicated a decade of learning about how fluoride can cause neurodegenerative changes in the brain. There are many undesirable consequences associated with the use of fluoride such as cardiovascular diseases, neurological diseases, cancers, and adverse reproductive activities. The presence of the substance in water is deemed to be one of the well-recognized problems in the world.

According to researchers, curcumin contains an agent called polyphenol, which is a neuroprotective substance. Previous research studies revealed that curcumin could act as an antioxidant. Antioxidants are believed to be helpful for providing protection against hyrodxyl radicals, singlet oxygen, and superoxide radical damage.

Researchers also discovered that curcumin has the potential ability to increase the endogenous glutathione production in the brain. This, according to researchers, makes an excellent antioxidant defense system.

Curcumin supplements are widely available nowadays. The most popular curcumin supplements nowadays are those that contain a black pepper extract called BioPerine. BioPerine is believed to be helpful for increasing curcumin absorption inside the body (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Extract-Vegetarian/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
