Arthritis Foundation Recommends 10-Minute Daily Exercise To Reduce Arthritis Risk

 



(Medical-NewsWire.com, November 11, 2014 ) Portland, Oregon -- There are many types of arthritic conditions that people of any age are susceptible to. However, some of these conditions could be prevented by doing some simple precautionary measures suggested by experts.

According to the Arthritis Foundation, people can reduce their arthritis risk by performing a 10-minute exercise routine on a daily basis. Exercise is essential to anyone who wants to feel less pain, lower arthritis risk, and strengthen joint muscles.

Justus J. Fiechtner, MD, MPH a private practice internist says that those who don't exercise will never be able to increase their strength and function. Health experts also believe that although low-impact and moderate exercises are helpful, stretching, water workouts, and strength-training are also highly recommended.

A study in the Tufts University found that patients who engaged in strength-training experienced a 43% reduction in pain. By comparison, those who did not engage in strength training only experienced a 12% drop in pain.

Experts suggest that those who are at a great risk for arthritis or already suffering from it could also benefit from relaxation activities such as yoga. There are forms of yoga, such as the hatha yoga, that involve simple stretching and balancing exercises.

A study published in Arthritis Research & Therapy found that the risk of developing symptoms can be reduced by 28% if a person engages in physical activities for about 10 minutes each day. Regular activities can significantly help improve circulation and this helps lubricate the joints.
