A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study found that over 47,000 Americans, ages 65 and over, are treated in hospitals yearly after falling while using walking aids. The Handy Cane elastic foot features four prongs, each outfitted with a bottom-facing small rubber pad. The first contact with the ground comes with one of the four prongs, prior to the full weight being put on the center rubber base. This provides the Handy Cane user with a shock absorbing characteristic, thereby lessening the ground's impact felt through the hand, wrist, arm and shoulder.
